RSR Northern Section 2025 rally
Sunday 13th April 2025.
After last year’s trip to the seaside the Northern section is going back inland for 2025. The rally will be at Bury Transport Museum on Sunday 13th April 2025. The museum is based in an 1848 goods warehouse and exhibits include cars, lorries, buses and trains.
For those who want to make a weekend of it accommodation has been arranged at the Best Western Bolholt Country Park Hotel which is about a mile and a half from the rally site. As the name suggests the hotel is located within 50 acres of lakeside gardens and parkland. The hotel number is 0161 764 5239 and room prices are as follows:
Double room (2 occupants) 106.00
Double room (1 occupant) 94.00
Single room 89.00
These rates include breakfast. Ground floor rooms are available.
To get these rates please quote Rover Sports Register when booking.
The rally site is more or less across the road from the main station on the East Lancashire Railway, a heritage line which runs for 12 miles from Heywood to Rawtenstall. The route mainly follows the course of the River Irwell. A ride has been arranged on the Saturday afternoon with us arriving at Bury Station for 2.00pm to get the train. Commercial passenger services on this line ran from 1846 to 1972, originally as part of the Manchester and Leeds Railway, and it reopened as a heritage line in 1987.
Bury is also home to a museum/art gallery and, for those interested in military history, the Lancashire Fusiliers museum. Please note, however, that neither of these are open on Sunday and so you’ll have to visit them another day over the weekend if you wish.
There will be a dinner on the Saturday evening and then the rally itself on the Sunday.
